Former Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Mongameli Bobani has died.

UDM chief Bantu Holomisa confirmed to News24 that Bobani died at 17.50 on Wednesday. 

He was in hospital on the time of his dying. 

Bobani was identified with Covid-19 three weeks in the past and had been hospitalised since then. 

“Bobani was a hard worker. He would not wait for anyone. We lost a good person,” Holomisa stated. 

He described Bobani’s dying as a “terrible loss for us”.
