A gaggle of closely armed robbers attacked a DSV courier van outside MTN’s head office in Johannesburg.
The incident occurred on Friday when the automobile arrived on the safety growth outside the doorway to the office complicated, Mthokozisi Ndlovu, public relations supervisor at MTN, advised News24.
“Two cars, a silver BMW and a white double-cab, arrived while the courier van was being granted access. They opened the doors and started telling everyone to get down,” Ndlovu mentioned.
DSV had employed extra safety to escort the van to its vacation spot. In CCTV footage of the incident, a white automotive, with safety personnel, might be seen following the supply automobile.
The perpetrators opened fireplace on the escort automotive, wounding three DSV safety guards, Ndlovu mentioned.
In a press release, MTN mentioned the three guards survived and are recovering.
The telecommunications company can be offering trauma counselling to the staff current throughout the incident.
Ndlovu mentioned the bins of handsets had been unloaded from the courier van into the double-cab bakkie.

“This is the first incident this year. We had issues with security in 2017 and 2018, but since then we have seen a decrease,” he advised News24.
